Sterling Silver Pint Tankard from Norman Wisdom

In good vintage condition, this is a beautiful piece. It stands on a pedestal base and has a lovely curved handle. It has been polished to a mirror shine.

It is engraved with, “Thanks Bob for The Bulldog Breed Norman Wisdom”

Of plain baluster form. Scroll handle. Corded decoration to the flared rim. Raised on a circular stepped base.

A very impressive, heavy and attractive sterling silver Pint mug wonderfully made in the Georgian style. It really does look like a genuine 18th century example with a lovely deep shine, a scroll handle and a wide belly. It has been made from a very generous gauge of silver, it has a very pleasing feel to handle.

The Bulldog Breed was a film Wisdom starred in. It was released in 1960 and directed by Robert Asher so he is most likely the Bob in the inscription. 

Hallmarked: Made by Mappin & Webb Ltd in Sheffield in 1957.
