George III Sterling Silver Fish Slice by John Shekleton in London in 1804

This is a very fine quality George III Sterling Silver Fish Slice or Fish Server in the traditional Fiddle pattern with a shaped and pierced blade. There is a thread engraving around the top of the blade and the piercing is a row of indented oblongs. The fish slice is a well-made piece in a good gauge of silver. John Shekleton was a specialist spoon maker who is known to have been active in London between around 1799 and 1821 although most examples of his work in existence are from the first few years of this period.
