French 19th Century Marble and Bronze Inkwell and Blotter

In good condition, this is an impressive and rare piece.It comprises of two inkwells, one with a glass insert and a blotter. There is a space in the middle to hold pens and other writing equipment. It is made from one large and heavy piece of marble with gilt added. There are four gilt animal feet. The blotter has a lovely gilt rose handle and is made of marble and wood with gilt and it comes with blotting paper ready for use. The inkwells have crowns of laurel leaves as finials and have crossed swords decorating them. Inside there are harps and fans. It is most probably French from the 19th century. Circa 1880-1890.
- There is a tiny chip in the middle of the pen tidy.
- Hallmarked: There are no maker’s or date marks.
- Size: 40cm by 12.2cm, 41cm by 14cm including the feet. The inkwells are 7.5cm by 9.5cm. It stands 14cm tall with the finials.
- The blotter is:13.5cm by 7.5cm and 8.5cm high. The handle has a 4.5cm diameter.
