1847 Victorian Jubilee Head Silver Crown Coin, High Grade, Good Detail
Product Code: SMS4874
In good vintage condition. Despite being the longest
reigning British Monarch, only three portraits were
issued during Victoria’s reign. This is the first design – the Young Head.
The obverse shows a young portrait of Queen Victoria at 18 years of age, her hair arranged into a loose bun or ponytail, designed by William Wyon. Around the edge are the words: "VICTORIA DEI GRATIA 1847".
The reverse design is a crowned quartered shield in a laurel wreath. The quarters contain the arms of England, Scotland and Ireland. Beneath is a thistle, rose and shamrock. The reverse legend reads: "BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID DEF"
The edge is inscribed in incuse lettering, with cinquefoil separators and shows the regal year in Roman numerals: "DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI XI"
